Garnet is a silicate mineral which appears like a bundle of grain to the eye. The mineral takes a broad spectrum of colours such as red, green, yellow, orange and brown. The mineral is reasonably affordable and is commonly used in rings, necklaces and bracelets. Garnet is found throughout Asia, Africa and Brazil and the USA. Garnet is thought to symbolise love and romance. As a reasonably hard mineral, ranging from 6.5-7.5/10 on the Mohs scale, avoidance of rough treatment and blows is advised to prolong the wearable life.
